So far I e stripped the finish off and stained it darker. The hard wood doesn't soak up.much stain so I added a couple layers of tinted polyurethane to darken it up evenly. After the holidays I will finish the project.

Perfect! I used a little bit of denatured alcohol to remove brand name and re sprayed with lacquer to get finish back. I own a laser cutter/engraver and turned this into a custom birthday present for a kid that loves baseball. Looks good.
